Life is sloppy at best. There is nothing orderly about it.


Sometimes we get lucky. Things line up as expected and we get the results we were looking for and we feel we can do no wrong.


Then life goes sideways and we’re left with only an option or two.


Tom Peters’s 1998 book Thriving on Chaos was mostly about sideways.


Expecting life to be sideways for a while isn’t being negative.


We can’t fix sideways, we can only respond.
